Hello, I have been admiring your work, and it has inspired me to paint my Tzolk’in gears! I am wondering if you are using an airbrush or just regular paint brushes for your technique when painting the gears? Your lines are so clean, I can’t imagine you used just regular brushes. Either way I have been trying hard to get clean lines with a regular brush and I am finding it rather difficult. If there is any advice on what I can try it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Rick ! Thanks for the kind words.
For the gears of Tzolk’in, we did use an airbrush to do the background colours. You can see the gears are darker in the center. That blending was airbrushed.
The main gear lines were painted by brush, but it’s not that difficult to paint it clean ; being 3D patterns, your brush will naturally stop painting when you reach the end of the pattern. It does require a light hand and the right amount of the rightly diluted paint, but it’s definitely doable =)
